A person who spiked candy with sleeping medication and gave them to children at a youth camp in Leicestershire has pleaded guilty to sexual offenses against two children aged nine and 10.
The accused was arrested after eight youngsters and a grown-up became sick at Stathern Lodge in July.
The elderly man, from Ruddington in Nottinghamshire, pleaded guilty to a total of 17 charges when he appeared at the judicial center on the end of the week.
Nevertheless, he denied one of the sexual offences he was charged with, which was involving a young boy.
Ruben was kept in jail ahead of a additional proceeding on November 28th.
'Candy game'
Mary Prior KC, presenting evidence, detailed Ruben's offending to the legal proceedings.
She said his targets were disadvantaged youngsters who were participating in a youth camp which he managed.
The man conducted a "sweet game" with the children, Mrs Prior said, in which he would go into the boys' rooms when they were preparing to sleep and request they to eat sweets "as fast as possible".
She told the court Ruben had engaged in this activity with the children "repeatedly", and minors had previously fallen ill the subsequent day.
She explained the defendant had been able to explain this for many years as the children being "overstimulated by activities", until his stepchild had worries in recently.
The legal representative stated further: "In the summer" his stepson had worries about the activities, with valid cause.
"They chose" to examine in the defendant's belongings."
The legal counsel said items including lubricant, Vaseline and syringes were discovered, and his stepson contacted the police about his worries.
She stated the man proceeded to play the "treat game" with six youngsters that night - Saturday 26 July - and they were all ill the subsequent day.
"Authorities" had not arrived by that time," she stated further.
The oversight body, the investigative body, previously told that it was reviewing the police response of the events.
The legal representative said the minors were unable to walk properly due to their condition, so the family member contacted the authorities a second time.
She stated the man then conducted the "candy game" in a room of five minors.
