In a surprising crossover event that breaks usual expectations, Ubisoft has announced an in-game partnership between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the popular anime series Attack on Titan. The unexpected Thanksgiving event operates from November 25 through December 22, including free extra story content for Shadows players.

Peculiar Mission Revealed

According to the official statement, "An unusual meeting pulls protagonists Naoe and Yasuke into a fresh adventure, where hints of prohibited ceremonies and terrifying transformations reverberate through the darkness." The storyline features a "unusually dressed woman named Ada" who charges the characters with venturing into the Crystalline Cavern—a significant location from Attack on Titan—to save her companion from a clandestine cult.

The mission centers on "strange tests and a fearsome adversary" and is accessible to all players who have unlocked the Yasuke character.

Familiar Locations and Metamorphoses

The trailer features the Subterranean Sanctuary from Attack on Titan redesigned as the Crystal Cave. This historic location was formerly where the Reiss royal family passed down the Founding Titan ability through ages. The preview finishes with a striking scene showing a character, likely the captive, morphing into a Titan that looms over Naoe and Yasuke.

Exclusive Prizes and Bonus Content

Players who finish the mission will obtain an exclusive katana in addition to several items hidden throughout the area in concealed chests. The update also includes in-store Attack on Titan item packs, featuring:

• Titan-inspired outfit for Yasuke
• Mikasa attire for Naoe
• Exclusive implements
• Survey Corps mount

Newest Free Story Update

This patch also introduces the game's newest free story addition, titled "A Puzzlement." This humorous mission teams Naoe and Yasuke as they swap characteristic abilities: Naoe reveals a theatrical interpretation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke learns subduing stealth takedowns. Faithful to its name, "The Enigma" also features a fresh environmental puzzle that may ultimately explain some lingering questions from the main storyline.

Earlier Japanese Animation Collaborations

This represents not the initial time the Assassin's Creed franchise has collaborated with well-known anime franchises. The series previously featured a 2020 cross-promotional story connecting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Moreover, Valhalla unofficially included a quest that obviously referenced the popular series One-Punch Man.
